The PGP Endpoint Course Overview

The PGP Endpoint Course is a 1-day, instructor-led class that consists of 8 modules designed to familiarize the PGP Endpoint administrator with architecture, configuration and installation of the PGP Endpoint product.
The course covers both the administrative and end-user perspective of PGP Endpoint product usage.
The course starts at 9:00 in the morning and will conclude by 5:30 pm.
Module outline:
Module 1 – PGP Endpoint Architecture
This module starts with a high-level overview of Endpoint device control features, discusses the various components necessary for deployment and details how these components communicate.
Module 2 – PGP Endpoint Installation
This module has an installation overview and then covers the installation process for the Endpoint database, Administration Server, Management console and Client. It also discusses installation requirements for the various components and gives sizing information for small to large installation environments.
Module 3 – Directory Integration
Directory integration is an important part of a PGP Endpoint installation and this module talks about how this integration is configured and about how it functions. Active Directory and Novell eDirectory are the types of directories covered.
Module 4 – Default Options
This module is a walkthrough of various configuration options for the Endpoint product. Defaults are discussed, as well as how changing various options will affect the product behavior.
Module 5 – Device Control
In this module we discuss how hardware devices are configured to restrict / allow usage. We also talk about how administrators can allow temporary access or exceptions in specific cases for users.
Module 6 – Device Control – Data Leakage
PGP Endpoint offers options to help prevent the chance of data being taken out of an environment using external media. In this module we discuss how data usage can be monitored, how copy limits can be set and how CDs and DVDs can be authorized for usage.
Module 7 – Device Control - Encryption
PGP Endpoint offers a few different methods for encrypting data on removable devices and this module talks about how each of these forms of encryption works and about options for configuring them.
Module 8 – Maintenance & Logging
In this part of the course we discuss backing up Endpoint data. We also will cover options for reporting and how the log explorer in the administration console works. Labs – Endpoint administration and client functionality The course also has a hands-on component that allows attendees the opportunity to install the Endpoint database, the Administration Server and the Endpoint Client and experience firsthand the deployment of a simple PGP Endpoint environment.
